Dubai Lime calls out to the community to help little Hayder

Iraqi Child Suffering from Advanced Sickle Thalassemia Condition

13th August 2008, Dubai, UAE - Dubai Lime, the online community portal in Dubai, calls out to the community to come together and make a difference to a little boy’s life.

Baby Hayder Amar Salih, a two year old Iraqi was diagnosed with Paediatric Sickle Thalassemia condition when he was just six months. Living in Basra, South of Iraq, Hayder is unable to receive the necessary treatments for his condition and now requires an urgent transplant of bone marrow.  Although the child’s family is available to provide the matching bone marrow for the transplant, they cannot afford the estimated Aed.400,000 fees required for the operation and medical treatment.

Over 80% of Iraqi children suffering from this disease die within the first 5 years of their lives from complications of anaemia. The transplant is currently unavailable in Iraq and children suffering from this disorder must be taken to medical facilities out of the country to receive treatment. In little Hayder’s case, there is now a great need for assistance from hospitals, charitable organisations or benefactors who could assist with the cost of the treatment to save his life.

Dubai Lime, dedicated to playing a major role in the community, is currently running online campaign to find hospital facilities or benefactors to come to the aid of little Hayder. With over 8,000 subscribers, the portal aims to build awareness of the Iraqi boy’s case and hope that the community will come forward to take part in the cause.

“Driven by community involvement, Dubai Lime will do everything it can to raise awareness of little Hayder. The medical expenses are very high and we hope our initiative will be able to catch the attention of hospitals and donors to make a difference. The family has not been able to secure any support from other charity organisation because of Hayders Iraqi nationality, but we hope this drive will unify the society to change a life” said Rosario Oales, Marketing Manager, Dubai Lime.

Hayder’s parents are very hopeful for him to recover and become a normal boy.  He receives transfusions of red blood cells every twenty days, travelling to Dubai with his parents for the treatment.  He undergoes a course of folic acid tablets (1 mg) a day depending on the consumption of his infused cells. Burdened with travel expenses and medical bills, the parents are now in a situation where they need to find a solution as Hayder’s condition deteriorates.

Dubai Lime calls out to donors to be part of this child’s plight. For more information and contribution, the community is requested to get in touch with Vanessa Palattao on 050-8748718 or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

"Services such as search engine optimisation are in great demand as real estate developers in the UAE scramble to position themselves competitively on relevant search engines, its not only effective SEO services that are in demand, the Middle East market as a whole is experiencing phenomenal growth in online advertising, media buying and creative online campaign services" Steve Vaile - CEO of H2O New Media.

H2O New Media the owner of The Dubai Lime have seen significant increase in demand for their online community web development services. "In the past six months we have acquired just over 40 new customers for H2O mainly in partnership with media services companies and branding agencies that are using social media as a new marketing tool for their clients. To support this we needed an effective online marketing division separate to our core web development services so we created H2O Influence to focus on the complementary online marketing services that are required promote our clients social media channels on popular search engines, directory listings and other online media channels"

The company that will operate as a separate division of H2O New Media under the name "H2O Influence" will offer the following services:

Online PR in Dubai and The Middle East
Search Engine Optimisation in Dubai and the Middle East
Online Advertising
Online Campaign Management and Creation
Email Marketing in Dubai
Viral Marketing & Content Creation
Online Marketing Platform Development Services

"We seem to have bucked the Dubai summer trend; we have posted record revenue figures during both July and August so far this year, a time when the Dubai Web Industry tends to be very slow. We believe that this is because we are focused on social media and not traditional web development, its very hard for a web developer that would normally be developing a simple website to create complex social media applications. Add to this the requirement to deliver both Video and Audio content and I think it places H2O in a very unique position when it comes to creating social media channels for brands, agencies and publishing houses"

H2O New Media was founded in November of 2007 as a result of agencies asking the development team responsible for developing the Dubai Lime to develop social media applications for their clients.  H2O provide comprehensive research, strategy and campaign development services allowing leading organizations to create an online vision, generate program architectures and meet the challenges of a rapidly changing theatre.

ASCALA Group Sustainability Rocks

Why Sustainability Rocks

sustainability_rocks.jpg

ASCALA Group is bringing a new perspective to venture capital investment.  Of course as a venture capitalist our aim is to secure the largest return on the capital we invest although the ASCALA group model is a little different.  We call  our investment model Sustainability Rocks.

We aim to shift the paradigm according to which we now interpret the venture capital model towards a paradigm which will ensure the sustainability of our investment portfolio to produce capital returns for a longer period of time whilst positively impacting the social improvement of the communities our portfolio company’s service.

Our model can be parodied to Islamic investment models, closed loop economic models or even aligned with models that promote a gift economy in order to improve economic relationships with businesses and the consumer.  Internally we promote this closed loop economic model as Sustainability Rocks.

We know the negative effects of some corporations' policies have on the world around us.  Examples from devastating strip mining, non sustainable farming to profiting from conflict diamonds, the destructive search for profit in the short term without consideration to the long term implications is often referred to 'human nature', greed, and 'man's inhumanity to man'.
